What Is the MVP Strain?
MVP stands for Most Valuable Producer. Researchers recognize this hybrid strain for its strong genetic lineage and distinctive microscopic characteristics.
This strain combines two well-known cubensis varieties:

Cubensis Melmac & TAT Cross Strain
MVP is a cross between TAT (True Albino Teacher) and MPE (Melmac Penis Envy) cross-strain, respectively. These two strains combine to make what you could truly call a fungi with properties befitting of its name, which is a play on words (as in “Most Valuable Player” from sports). TAT stands for True Albino Producer.
The Most Valuable Producer strain in the wild is known by mycologists for its ability to colonize and produce fruiting bodies not only extremely quickly, but also in great abundance. This strain, if discovered in nature, would grow very aggressively and produce many mushrooms. Since the mushrooms are quite thick, researchers believe that the largest concentration would be found in the center of the fungi.
Understanding the Parentage of The MVP
The MVP strain, or the Most Valuable Producer mushroom strain, is actually a hybrid. This means that the fungi itself is a strain of cubensis which has two “parents” in its lineage. In the case of MVP, these parents are True Albino Teacher and the Melmac strain, otherwise known as Melmac Penis Envy.
Cubensis Hybrid Background
Which mycologist originally created this cubensis cross strain is unknown at this time—as is so often the case with the many, many different strains of cubensis – however, it is known that this hybrid strain is extremely aggressive in the wild, both in terms of how quickly the mycelium can colonize a viable substrate as well as when the fungi reaches maturity and begins to produce fruiting bodies.
The Melmac Penis Envy strain is a strain based on the world-famous Penis Envy mushrooms strain, as originally developed by respected psychonaut and special advocate Terence McKenna. Another advanced strain in the Texas Ghost spores otherwise known as Ghost Strain.
The features of the Melmac Penis Envy are readily apparent in mature samples, most notably with the cap. Some researchers have described the cap of an MVP fruiting body to look a bit like uncooked ravioli, which we think is an apt description.
